AmCham Mongolia Co-hosts Members-Only Agribusiness Roundtable Discussion
ULAANBAATAR, Mongolia – The American Chamber of Commerce (AmCham) in Mongolia co-hosted the “Financing Opportunities for Agribusiness” roundtable discussion with the Overseas Private Investment Corporation (OPIC), Schulze Global Investments, and the U.S. Embassy in Mongolia on October 3, 2016.
The roundtable featured keynote presentations from senior representatives of OPIC and Schulze Global Investments Limited, as well as comprehensive discussions on OPIC financing opportunities for Mongolia’s agribusinesses. Over 20 AmCham members participated in the roundtable and attended a detailed Q&A session and enjoyed networking opportunities with the special guests.
Economic diversification, and specifically, the development and promotion of Mongolia’s agriculture industry have been and remain to be one of the key focuses of AmCham’s advocacy efforts. AmCham’s Agriculture Committee works to collectively identify existing challenges encountered by its members, and to develop an advocacy strategy with viable solutions to convey to the responsible government agencies to bring about real policy change.
“Financing is consistently the key challenge facing Mongolia’s agriculture industry, and we are pleased to host this roundtable today with OPIC, Schulze Global, and AmCham members,” said Jay Liotta, chairman of AmCham Mongolia, during his remarks at the roundtable.
Associate Director of OPIC, Ajay Rao commented on the cooperation between OPIC and AmCham Mongolia, and said, “OPIC is working with AmCham Mongolia to find businesses in the agricultural sector and provide access to finance for small and medium-sized enterprises. OPIC supports the development of agribusiness to support diversification in the Mongolian economy and to provide support for the livelihoods of those working in rural areas.”
