AmCham welcomes new Deputy Chief of Mission at the U.S. Embassy

Today (Aug 15, 2025), members of the AmCham Board had the pleasure of welcoming Mr. Neal Vermillion, the newly appointed Deputy Chief of Mission at the U.S. Embassy - Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia.

The purpose of this meeting was to discuss updates concerning the Mongolian business environment and to exchange ideas on how to enhance bilateral economic and commercial relations.

A select group of business executives, representing our members, also participated in this meeting, where they were afforded the opportunity to express our stance on emerging issues. This included discussions regarding the legal framework, specific challenges related to mining projects, and the contentious topic of 'strategic deposits' in relation to the Sovereign Wealth Fund. Both parties shared perspectives on how to improve investment in both the mining and non-mining sectors to promote economic development.

During the meeting, it was emphasized that AmCham has recently submitted proposals to the Mongolian government aimed at bolstering the country’s economic growth and enhancing the business climate by fostering private sector investment.

AmCham extends its congratulations to Mr. Neal Vermillion on his recent appointment and expresses its willingness to support the mission in Mongolia. Additionally, AmCham wishes to express gratitude to the following members: Barloworld Mongolia, Faro Foundation, MSM Group, ONDO, Oyu Tolgoi, and SnowHill Consultancy, for their time and contributions.
