AmCham Mongolia's member EY (EY Mongolia) organized a pivotal international-level discussion on the current affairs surrounding "Mongolia’s Energy Reform: Bridging Policy and Investment".
On April 11, 2025, the National Committee on Energy Reform and Ernst & Young Consulting LLC hosted an international discussion titled "Mongolia’s Energy Reform: Bridging Policy and Investment". We welcomed experts from EY’s #Shanghai, #Singapore, and #London offices, including Gilles Pascual (ASEAN Power & Utilities Partner), Ronan Williams (Business Consulting Partner), and Jean-Pascal Boutin (Law & Energy Partner).
This much-needed and highly important event marked an important chapter in Mongolia's energy reform, now at the heart of public and government discussions.
Deputy Prime Minister Dorjkhand Togmid opened the event, highlighting the need for national reforms to address inefficiencies in the energy sector and improve the regulatory environment for investment. Jambaa Lkhagva, Managing Director of the National Energy Reform Committee, emphasized the importance of enhancing governance in state-owned enterprises.
The roundtable featured three main sessions:
• Energy tariffs, market structures, renewable energy procurement, and reform case studies in Southeast Asian countries
• Future preparations and changes in energy sector companies, including best practices from other countries
• Attracting foreign investment and aligning financial projects with legal and regulatory frameworks
With 38 energy specialists from various sectors participating, discussions focused on challenges and investment opportunities in Mongolia's energy landscape.
Our utmost appreciation to EY and EY Mongolia for leading and paving the continued path towards a rejuvinated energy sector in Mongolia.
