Press Statement: Condemns violence and assault on stakeholder encounters

Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia

April 23, 2025

The American Chamber of Commerce in Mongolia (AmCham Mongolia) strongly condemns the violent confrontation and physical assault on the senior leadership of our member, Badrakh Energy LLC, during a meeting on April 21, 2025 with a group of citizens opposing uranium mining. This act of violence is unacceptable and undermines the values of lawful protest, civil discourse, and mutual respect.

AmCham Mongolia reaffirms its unwavering commitment to the rule of law, the safety and dignity of individuals, and the protection of lawful business operations.

While expressing differing views and public concerns is a fundamental right in democratic societies, all dialogue must be rooted in mutual respect and a shared commitment to truth, accountability, and constructive engagement. Escalating tensions through physical confrontation is not only unlawful but counterproductive to resolving core issues.

We are also increasingly alarmed by a pattern of irrational and unlawful disruptions targeting the operations of our member companies, which threaten the integrity of Mongolia’s business environment.

AmCham Mongolia stands firmly in solidarity with Badrakh Energy and all businesses operating within the legal framework of Mongolia. We call on all stakeholders to respect individual and organizational rights, and to pursue peaceful, lawful means of resolving disputes.
