Through its Mining and Heavy Industry Committee, The American Chamber of Commerce in Mongolia (AmCham Mongolia) has developed a policy paper titled "Support a Competitive Mining Sector in Mongolia" to present and discuss major policy issues to support the development of a competitive mining industry in Mongolia. The Position Paper outlines key challenges in the mining industry and proposes some policy recommendations based on international best practices in handling these issues.

AmCham Mongolia stands ready to discuss the challenges and suggested solutions with the state's authorities to make sure that necessary policy actions are taken to promote development of the competitive mining sector in Mongolia.

The paper was prepared by the AmCham Committee and valuable inputs from all members under the leadership of the Chairman of AmCham Mongolia’s Mining and Heavy Industry Committee Mr. Ch.Munkhbat. The Mining and Heavy Industry Committee operates under the authority of the AmCham Board of Directors.

Through its Auto and Machinery Committee, AmCham Mongolia and the Mongolian Automobile Distributors’ Association (MADA) has developed a policy paper titled "Developing an Environmentally Friendly Auto and Machinery Industry". The policy paper outlines key challenges in promoting an environmentally friendly auto sector in Mongolia and proposes certain policy recommendations based on local initiatives and international best practices in handling these issues. The challenges and recommendations were developed with input from key stakeholders, raised and discussed during an Eco-friendly Auto Industry policy workshop held on May 11, 2018. The workshop was organized by AmCham Mongolia and MADA, in cooperation with the Ministry of Road and Transport Development of Mongolia and the Ministry of Nature and Environment of Mongolia.

The paper was prepared by the executive teams of AmCham Mongolia and MADA, under the leadership of the  Chairman of AmCham Mongolia’s Auto and Machinery Committee Garrett Wilson. The Auto and Machinery Committee operates under the authority of the AmCham Board.

The policy paper outlines key challenges in regards to maintaining access to USD clearance, and suggests solutions to the government and regulators to address these issues in order to maintain, or even increase, access to USD clearing. As a member of the Asia Pacific Council of American Chambers of Commerce, we are presenting the 2018 APCAC Policy Report and Policy Checklist that were shared with the Trump Administration and Congress in July in Washington during the APCAC Doorknock. The main purpose of the policy paper is to make proposals and provide inputs for an improved reporting of corporate institutions about their performance, strategy, shareholders, sustainability and other issues considered in international standards and best practices, especially for publicly listed companies in Mongolia. The content of this document has been prepared by members of AmCham Mongolia’s Financial Service Committee and primarily authored by Jelena Pesic (PwC) and Evaldas Grendas (EY) under the responsibility of Erik Versavel (ING) Chairman of the Financial Services Committee.
